ABOUT US

Comprehensive Psychiatry Group (CPG) is a premier psychiatric practice providing exceptional specialized mental and behavioral health services across all ages in Northeast Ohio and surrounding areas. The practice was founded in 1991 by Dr. Pradeep Mathur, M.D., a Double Board-Certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist. CPG is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OhioMHAS)—indicative of the highest standards of care we provide.

We provide mental health evaluations, individual and family counseling, case management, and medication management services, with treatment options spanning the entire spectrum of mental health disorders and across all age groups. We encourage integrating psychotherapy and medication, as needed, to help our patients reach their treatment goals. All  of the clinical staff at CPG are licensed by the appropriate board based on their degree. Our niche in treating specific diagnoses makes us unique in our offering of highly specialized psychiatric services.

DR. PRADEEP MATHUR

Medical Director | Board-Certified Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist | Distinguished Fellow, American Psychiatric Association

Dr. Mathur received his Medical Degree from the University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. He completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child-Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Michigan State University. Dr. Mathur is Double Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist and is a Distinguished Member of American Psychiatric Association. Formerly he served as the Chairman of the Center for Behavioral Medicine Department at Forum Health - Northside Medical Center and as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM). Dr. Mathur has been a consultant for a number of Community Mental Health Centers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties. His primary hospital affiliation is with Belmont Pines Hospital, an independent child-adolescent facility. Dr. Mathur treats a range of mental health disorders in children, adolescents, and adults with special interest in ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, and OCD.

MARK DEMETRIOS

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board-Certified

Mark received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1994 from Youngstown State University and obtained his Psychiatric Mental Health Certification in 1997. He later went on to earn his Master's Degree in Nursing from the University of Akron in 2013. He is credentialed by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) as a PMHNP-BC (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified). He has over 20 years of experience working in an inpatient psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents where he functioned in various capacities including Director of Nursing for over 13 years. He was also a long standing member of OPNA (Ohio Psychiatric Nurse Administrators) and volunteered on several OHA (Ohio Hospital Association) committees to improve patient care and outcomes. He is trained in numerous therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness. As a Prescriber, he treats mental health disorders in all age groups.

HARRIET CORTEZ

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Board-Certified

Harriet received her Masters of Science in Education Degree in Community Counseling in 2003 from Youngstown State University and went on to obtain her LPCC license (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor). After working in the mental health field as an LPCC for some years, she went on to earn her Master's Degree in Nursing from Kent State University in 2018 with a focus in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. Harriet is a Certified Nurse Practitioner, and is credentialed by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) as a PMHNP-BC (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified). She joined CPG in September of 2019 and brings with her a wealth of experience; having worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings both as a Professional Clinical Counselor and a Nurse Practitioner. As a Prescriber, she treats mental health disorders in all age groups, works collaboratively with the patient, therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, and community agencies to meet the treatment goals of the patient.

SCOTT MARLIN

Clinical Director | Licensed Social Worker

Scott received his Bachelor of Science of Education Degree in Art Education & his Master of Arts Degree in Art Psychotherapy (a counseling related field) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Scott is a licensed Social Worker in the state of Ohio. He has worked as an Art Teacher / Art Therapist at Abraxis Group (a residential chemical dependency treatment facility for adolescents) in Marienville, PA and at Human Services Center in New Castle, PA as an Individual, Family, and Group Therapist. He also was a Predetermination Coordinator for General Motors EAP Program at Family Services Agency In Youngstown, OH; an Individual Therapist at the Adolescent Chemical Dependency Program of the Alcoholic Clinic of Youngstown; a Counselor / Case Coordinator at Youth Service Unit at Tod Children's Hospital in Youngstown, OH. Currently he practices as an Individual & Family Therapist and as the Clinical Director at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group. Scott treats patients of all ages and specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, and adults, with a focus on the areas of ADHD / Behavioral problems, Anger Management problems, Parent-Child Conflict, Depression, Trauma and Anxiety.

KAREN FOLKWEIN

Registered Nurse

Karen received her Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences Degree from Youngstown State University. She is a licensed nurse in the state of Ohio. Since earning her Bachelor's Degree Karen has worked as an Agency Nurse at a residential program for psychiatric patients; a Nurse at local community mental health centers; and in her current position as a Psychiatric Nurse at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group Karen works in conjunction with Dr. Mathur to meet the medication management needs of patients of all ages.

KRISTEN BAREFIELD

Licensed Independent Social Worker with Training Supervision Designation

Kristen received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Youngstown State University in 2007. She went on to earn her Masters of Science in Social Administration Degree from Case Western Reserve University in 2013. Kristen has been a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Ohio since 2008; she received her independent licensure in 2015. She has worked in a variety of Social Services positions including those of a Child Protection Social Worker in Kent, England in 2008; a Social Worker in Acute Care at Salem Community Hospital from 2009 - 2010; and as both a FreeSpace Therapist and an MST Therapist at Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center in Canton, OH from 2010 - 2013. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive family and community-based treatment program that focuses on addressing all environmental systems that impact chronic and violent juvenile offenders -- their homes and families, schools and teachers, neighborhoods and friends. Kristen works with all ages of patients with a wide variety of presenting problems at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group and specializes in the treatment of children and families with issues of Anxiety, Depression, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. She most frequently uses a Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral approach with her clients.

LUCINDA BLANCH

Case Manager

Lucinda received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Degree from Baldwin Wallace College in 1997. Since earning her degree, Lucinda has worked as a Therapeutic Support Staff member at the Mercer County Youth Advocate Program from 1998-1999; and as a Mental Health Associate at Youth Services Unit, Tod Children's Hospital from 2001 - 2002. Also from 1999 - 2010, she functioned in the role of Juvenile Diversion Specialist with the Poland Township Police Department. She has long been interested and devoted to assisting special need individuals; especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder lead fuller, healthier lives. Lucinda joined Comprehensive Psychiatry Group in December of 2009 in her current position as a Case Manager and a Qualified Mental Health Specialist. In that position, Lucinda works as in integral part of a team of providers working with special needs children and their families, and most frequently meets with patients and their families in community-based settings including their schools, homes, work environments etc. Lucinda has received specialized training in the effective treatment of Autistic individuals from Bittersweet Farms in the Toledo, OH area. She has successfully integrated Bittersweet' approaches with countless autistic individuals and families at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group, and has also been instrumental in training numerous members of local school and other key community resources in best practices in treating autistic individuals. Lucinda is also certified as a WrapAround Facilitator under the direction of Mahoning County Family First Council.

NANCY BLEGGI

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Training Supervision Designation

Nancy received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Youngstown State University in 1989. She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree in Education (Community Counseling) from the same university in 2007. Nancy was a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Ohio from January 2008 until January of 2010 when she became licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Since 2010, she has been a National Certified Counselor as well. Since earning her Master's Degree, Nancy has worked as a Professional Counselor at Catholic Charities Regional Agency in Youngstown, OH; and in her current position as an Individual and Family Therapist at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group. Nancy specializes in treating patients of all ages to assist them with issues of abuse / trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, divorce / separation, family, grief & loss, marital, and school or work related issues. She has also received supervision designation status.

SARAH BRIGUGLIO

Licensed Professional Counselor

Sarah Briguglio received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Ohio University. She has a passion for helping individuals improve their quality of life by navigating life's challenges and discovering their inner strength.

Sarah incorporates a variety of holistic and behavioral psychotherapeutic approaches into her practice, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Feminist Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her approach to therapy emphasizes the power and autonomy of each client, utilizing these diverse methods to best suit their needs.

As a Deaf professional, Sarah’s unique experiences have shaped her practice. Losing her hearing later in life has shifted her perspectives, allowing her to be flexible, accommodating, and deeply empathetic with her clients. She uses American Sign Language (ASL) in sessions to ensure effective communication and inclusivity. Sarah is proficient and comfortable lip-reading and utilizes both speech and sign in her sessions depending on the needs of the client.

Sarah works with clients of all ages, addressing a wide variety of mental health concerns, social difficulties, and interpersonal relationship conflicts. She is particularly passionate about working with women, couples, and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HH) community. Additionally, she provides a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and those from various cultural backgrounds.

In sessions, Sarah strives to model authenticity and helps clients align their head and hearts to find their most authentic self’s. Her goal is to guide you in discovering your own power of authenticity and confidence through empowerment. Together, you can work towards a more empowered and fulfilling life.

TINA CROYLE

Case Manager

Tina joined Comprehensive Psychiatry Group in June of 2010 in the role of a Qualified Mental Health Specialist. As such, she functions in the role of a Case Manager. In that role, Tina works as an integral part of a team of providers working with special needs children and their families, and most frequently meets with patients and their families in community - based settings including their schools, homes, work environments etc. Prior to joining Comprehensive Psychiatry Group Tina functioned as a Case Manager, Qualified Mental Health Specialist at another Behavioral Health practice in the Trumbull County area from 2007 - 2010. She previously worked in the role of a Therapeutic Support Staff member at Family Counseling and Children Services in Sharon, PA from 2004 - 2007.

MARLENE HANISKO

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Training Supervision Designation

Marlene received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Miami University of Ohio. She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree in Education (Community Counseling) from Youngstown State University a few years later. Marlene is licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) in the state of Ohio. She is a National Certified Counselor as well. Since earning her Master's Degree, Marlene has worked as a Counselor and Supervisor / Coordinator in a variety of Mental Health Agencies throughout Mahoning County. In her current position as an Individual and Family Therapist at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group, Marlene specializes in treating children, adolescents, and adults dealing with issues of marital conflict, grief / loss, family communication problems, depression, and anxiety. She has done extensive work in the areas of bullying and violence prevention, and incorporates this into her work with her patients.

JANA KANOS

Licensed Independent Social Worker with Training Supervision Designation

Jana received her Bachelor of Science In Applied Science Degree from Youngstown State University in 2008. She went on to earn her Masters of Social Work Degree from the same university in 2012. Jana has been a Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio since 2012, received her independent licensure in 2014, and focuses much of her treatment on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). DBT combines standard cognitive-behavioral techniques for emotion regulation and reality-testing with concepts of distress tolerance, acceptance, and mindful awareness largely derived from Buddhist meditative practice. She also has experience as a Social Worker at Belmont Pines Hospital, a local Hospital Based Behavioral Health practice that offers Inpatient, Intensive Outpatient, and Traditional Outpatient Treatment options. Jana specializes in the treatment of adolescents and families at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Degree in from Youngstown State University. She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree in Education (Community Counseling) from the same university a few years later. Lisa is licensed in the state of Ohio as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), and as a Social Worker (LSW). Since earning her Master's Degree, Lisa has worked as a Case Manager / Individual, Family & Group Therapist in Alliance, OH; a Residential Treatment Facility Director in Butler, PA; an Individual, Family, & Group Therapist as well as a Residential Treatment Center Program Director at Belmont Pines Hospital in Youngstown, OH; an Individual and Family Therapist with Comprehensive Psychiatry Specialists in Boardman, OH; and in her current position as an Individual and Family Therapist at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group. Lisa treats patients from ages 5 to 21 and she specializes in the treatment of Behavior / Conduct Issues, Depression, Anger Management, & Self-Esteem Issues.

CHRYSANN MITZEL

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Training Supervision Designation

Chrysann received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Youngstown State University. She went on to earn her Master of Science Degree in Education (Community Counseling) from the same university a few years later. Chrysann is licensed in the state of Ohio as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). She coordinates a monthly professional Lunchtime Learning series for Counselors & Social Workers that is sponsored in part by Comprehensive Psychiatry Group. She has presented locally and state-wide on a variety of mental health issues, and serves as the President and Facilitator of the First Ohio Chapter of Federation of Families Support Group. Chrysann is also involved in numerous community organizations and boards including Help Hotline, and the Mahoning County Mental Health Board. Since earning her Master's Degree, Chrysann has worked as an Individual Family and Marriage Therapist at a number of behavioral health practices in Mahoning and Columbiana Counties, an Individual and Family Therapist with Comprehensive Psychiatry Specialists in Boardman, OH; and in her current position as an Individual and Family Therapist at Comprehensive Psychiatry Group. Chrysann treats patients of all ages, and she specializes in the treatment of Women's Issues, Marital Counseling, and Christian Counseling.

KELSEY PHILLIPS

Licensed Social Worker

Kelsey received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Mount Union in 2019. She went on to earn her Master of Social Work Degree from Youngstown State University in 2021. Kelsey became a licensed social worker in 2021 after completing her internship at Comprehensive Psychiaty Group where she worked with patients of all ages and with a variety or presenting problems. She is currently working towards her independent license (LISW). Kelsey has previously worked at Alta Behavioral HealthCare as a Case Manager and a behavioral aide. At CPG, Kelsey works with patients of all ages, genders, and orientation. She has experience treating a variety of mental health / behavioral health disorders. Kelsey utilizes several treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Psycholanalytic Therapy etc., and she is an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained therapist.

Cara received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Community Health Education and Promotion from Kent State University in May of 2014. She went on to earn her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Degree from Youngstown State University in August of 2021 Cara became a licensed professional counselor in December of 2021 after completing her internship at Comprehensive Psychiaty Group where she worked with patients of all ages and with a variety or presenting problems. She is currently working towards her independent license (LPCC). Cara has previously worked at Mahoning County District Board of Health as a Community Health Education Specialist. At CPG, Cara works with patients of all ages, genders, and orientation. She has experience treating a variety of mental health / behavioral health disorders, and specializes in Parenting / Post-Partum issues. Cara utilizes several treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Psycholanalytic Therapy.
